We were pleased to be invited by Cristina Odone from Fair Hearing to take part in a panel discussion on “How to Improve Outcomes for Children in Domestic Abuse Cases”, hosted by Dame Rachel de Souza, Children’s Commissioner for England, and Alison Hume MP on 19th May 2026.
There was a lively and thought-provoking discussion alongside HHJ Mark Everall, Forum Shah, Tatiana Grieshofer, Julia Margo and Olive Craig.
The conversation highlighted the urgent need for a more child-centred approach within the family court system — one that truly listens to children’s voices, needs and wishes.
Children Heard and Seen remains committed to putting children’s best interests at the heart of everything we do, including supporting families navigating the family courts when a parent is in prison.
Too often, the impact of domestic abuse and coercive control does not end at sentencing, with children and carers continuing to experience fear, manipulation and harm long after imprisonment.
