‘They should have thought about their children before they committed the crime’

Whenever an article appears in the media with a focus on children impacted by parental imprisonment many of the responses will be along the lines of the quote at the top of the page. Families have come to expect it, brace themselves for it, hide it from children who are old enough to read ill-informed comments.
